This is a souvenir English horse brass or harness brass featuring the design of a profile of Queen Victoria on a Maltese cross.

This is a stamped commemorative horse brass made in the 1920-1930s and is a copy of a Victorian design of a Maltese cross from the Crimean War in the 1890s.

The souvenir horse brass was issued as a lead up to the coronation in 1937 of King Edward VIII who abdicated in favour of George VI and Queen Elizabeth. A neat piece and very decorative.

The royal commemorative souvenir brass is in excellent condition and measures 3.5 inches high by 3 wide.

Horse brasses were developed in the 17th century to decorate and identify draft horses and are very collectible. In England you see them decorating the beams in pubs or hung by the fireplace in homes, or used as Christmas tree ornaments.
