Jamaica Inn Cornwall Horse Brass 1950s Pirate Vintage Souvenir Pub Harness Ornament
This is a horse brass or pub brass featuring the design of a pirate and the name Jamaica Inn which is a famous pirate and smuggling inn in Cornwall, England made famous in the 1930s by the novel of the same name by Daphne DuMaurier.
This horse brass dates to the 1950s and is 3.5 inches high by 3 inches wide.
Although a vintage mid century horse brass, the casting is not as good as older brasses I have had, but is still a decorative and fun item.
Horse brasses were developed in the 17th century to decorate and identify draft horses and are very collectible.
In England you see them decorating the beams in pubs or hung by the fireplace in homes., or used as Christmas tree ornaments.
