This fabulous pitcher is probably classed as victorian imari or gaudy Welsh although not Welsh but made in the Potteries. It is 7 inches high with a hammered copper lid and was made by Samuel Johnson Britannia Pottery. It has cobalt medallions & trim and a sampler of intricate gilt patterns above the half reeded bottom of the jug. It is in perfect condition except for a cobalt glaze run underglaze done at the time of manufacture.
