This is a gorgeous pale green embossed salt glazed stoneware pitcher with an art nouveau metal--pewter I think--lid. It is probably a water pitcher because it stands 8 inches high. The embossed flowers on it are superb. They look like daisies and there is an embossed basketweave base to the design. The metal lid looks like an art nouveau water lily leaf and has a lovely molded thumb finial. There is a bit of wear on the hinge but it still works. It dates from 1860-1880. It is unmarked but looks like Brownfield. In excellent condition.
