This goldtone & enamel compact looks like a stylized seashell to me. It was made by Dorset of 5th Avenue and has goldtone & cobalt swirls. It has it's original labeled puff. The mirror has a small crack and the back shows some wear but the front is in very good condition. It dates from the 1930-1940's and is a lovely piece. Clasp and hinge are tight & work well.
