This little silver snuff box or pill box dates to 1870-1890. It is quite old. It has marks including a D but they are not readable. The box tests sterling. The snuff box measures 1.5 inches long by just over 1 inch wide by .5 inch high. The box was engraved all over but the engraving shows wear from use. The inside has a layer of some type of perfumed substance. I know ladies snuff was perfumed or it might have contained a solid perfume but you can still get a hint of it when you open the box. I got the box in England but I don't know where it was made. The hinge is tight & the closure secure. A very nice old piece. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured with tracking is $9.50.
