This is a fabulous cream & sugar or creamer & sugar basin in Torquay ware or mottoware or motto ware made by the Babbacombe Pottery Torquay, England. The set has the traditional cottage motif and the motto "Go Aisy Wi' It" on the cream & "'Elp Yersel' Tu More" on the sugar. The creamer measures 3.5 inches high and the sugar measures 3 inches high. This cute set was made in the 1930s. The set is in exceptionally good condition with no chips, cracks or restorations which is quite unusual. A beautiful & very collectible set. This famous and fun pottery has been manufactured in the south of England from the 1870's until the factories closed in the 1960's. It is usually of red clay decorated with bright glazes, cottages and mottos or sayings that run the gamut from proverbs and sound advice to nearly outrageous. Always fun & different and very collectible!
