| This is a wonderful bone china mug by the Shelley china company of England made to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VIII of England on May 12, 1937. The coronation never happened because Edward abdicated the throne in order to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson. The mug measures 3 inches high by just over 2.75 inches in diameter and has a sepia portait of the king who was never crowned. The portrait is surrounded by color decorations, the Tudor rose on the inside & the king's cipher on the back. The mug is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. The only flaw a tiny mark above the portrait. A beautiful & historic piece. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured with tracking is $9.50. |
