This is a fabulous victorian glazed earthware biscuit jar or cracker jar in a blue and creamy white pattern like moorish tiles called Candahar. It was made in 1884 and bears that registry date by the Brownhills Pottery Co. of Tunstall, Staffordshire England. The biscuit jar measures 7 inches high with out the bale and has silver plated fittings. The fittings were originally gold washed but only a few traces remain of the gold wash. The 10 sided jar is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks but has all over crazing commensurate with it's age. A wonderful survival of the indian or eastern influence on victorian design at that time. Beautiful. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured with tracking is $14.40.
