This is a neat creamy white stoneware pie vent, pie bird or pie funnel made in the 1940s-1950s by Royal Winton Grimwades, Staffordshire England. I got it in the Staffordshire England Potteries district district recently. The pie vent measures 3 inches high by 1.75 inches across the square base and is in good condition. There is some light staining inside as it was obviously used and 1 tight hairline that can't be seen without a loupe. A fun piece. And practical! Pie birds were developed in the 1500s to release steam from a baking pie so the filling didn't boil over. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured with tracking is $7.60.
