This creamy tan stoneware pie vent, pie bird or pie funnel was made in the 1940-1950s and is unmarked. The pie vent was almost certainly made in Staffordshire area of England and I got it in the Potteries district recently. The pie vent measures 3 inches high by 2.75 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. A fun piece. And practical! Pie birds were developed in the 1500s to release steam from a baking pie so the filling didn't boil over. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured with tracking is $7.60.
