This funny looking thing is an unusual antique English brass and copper toast fork or toasting fork from the 1890-1910 that I brought home recently from England. The toast fork kitchen gadget features a 3 dimensional finial of a Cornish pixie or piskie on a mushroom or toadstool from Cornwall, England. It was used as it's name implies, to toast bread or crumpets before the open flame of a fire or even an the bar of an electric fire. They are really quite nostalgic as well as ornamental.
