Imari Dinner Plate Colclough England Swags Gold Antique 1890s Colclough 10 Inches
This is a great antique dinner plate in the Imari style and color palette using cobalt, rust and green hand colored on sepia transfers of floral and geometric lozenges and floral swags with gold trim so popular in the Victorian era during the fad for all things Japanese.
This particular dinner plate measures 10 inches in diameter and was made by Colclough, England and dates from 1893-1908.
The plate is only marked England with the pattern number 981 but is definitely Colclough as I have handled quite a bit of the early production of 981 that starts to be marked in 1908. So, spanning the late Victorian into the Edwardian period.
The imari dinner plate is in very good +++ used vintage condition with the gold still bright although showing a bit of minor wear with no chips or cracks which is rare for this age and type of porcelain.
