This vintage horse brass or pub brass depicts a prancing horse and is taken from the old Saxon banner design called the Prancing Horse Of Kent.

This brass was made 1910-1920s and has semi concave back and measures 3.75 inches high by 3.25 inches wide and weighs a bit more than the Victorian brass it is a copy of.

A wonderful older example than the many tourist brasses you see today.

Horse brasses originated during the 17th century to decorate and identify draft horses and ward off evil spirits. Horse brasses are a popular collectible today. In England they decorate the beams of pubs and hang by the fireplace in homes and decorate Christmas trees.
