This is a great antique porcelain fairing or late Victorian carnival prize showing a husband and wife climbing into bed with the saying The Last In Bed To Put Out The Light.

The original Victorian hand painted fairing measures 3.25 inches long by 3.45 inches high by 2.25 inches wide.

The fairing or ceramic group has a typical Victorian script title.

The fairing has no base markings but was made from 1880-1900s and was made by Conta and Bohme of Germany and is shown on page 99 of the reference Victorian China Fairings by Derek Jordan with a different color on the tablecloth and canopy, although this is later than the book example, probably dating to the 1890-1910s.

The fairing is missing the candle stick on the table which is normal for this design, as it was believed to be good luck to break off the candle in the Victorian era.

The fairing or decorative figurine is in very good ++ used vintage condition with a chip missing from the back base, and a few firing cracks from the manufacturing process visible which is quite normal.

It can be seen that much of the sides was gilded, but most of that has been lost.

A wonderful collector's piece and becoming increasingly difficult to find.

These pieces are called fairings because they were usually won at traveling fairs or carnivals or bought as souvenirs in the 1800s until the start of World War I.

We had acquired a large collection in England a few years ago, and this is the last I have.
