This is a pair of antique Edwardian English maple butter paddles, butter hands or Scotch hands or kitchenalia from England.

They are hardly ever seen anymore, but were a staple of every kitchen at one time. The paddles are 8.75 inches long by 2.375 inches wide by .375 inch deep and were made 1900-1910s.

The interior is reeded, corrugated or ridged with a beveled back and were machine made and are in very good +++ used vintage condition with only some minor cracking to the ends which often happens with age.

Butter paddles were used to beat the excess water out of freshly churned butter in preparation to putting into molds or crocks for storage and use and also to shape butter into balls, acorns, etc.
