This ruffled ceramic bowl or dish was created by J and G Meakin, England for the coronation in 1937 of King Edward VIII, uncle of Queen Elizabeth II who, although he became King Edward VIII on the death of his father King George V.
Edward VII was never crowned because he abdicated the throne in favor of his younger brother who became George VI, to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson.
The pale yellow bowl or dish measures 1 inches high by 6 in diameter and has a sepia portrait with a crown and symbols with flags and gold trim.
The bowl or dish is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips, cracks or flaws and is in the best condition of a commemorative item for Edward VIII that I have had in many years.
A great piece of English royal history.
