Victorian Horse Brass Queen Victoria Maltese Cross 1890s Cast Brass Harness Ornament

This is a Victorian era English horse brass or harness brass featuring the design of a profile of Queen Victoria on a Maltese cross from the Crimean War in the 1890s in very fine detail.

The royal commemorative souvenir brass is in very good +++ used vintage condition and measures 3.75 inches high by 3 wide. The definition and detail is superior to newer brasses and even has the earrings with is usually missed, and texture on the Maltese cross.

Horse brasses were developed in the 17th century to decorate and identify draft horses and are very collectible.

In England you see them decorating the beams in pubs or hung by the fireplace in homes, or used as Christmas tree ornaments.
