Shelley Crested China Dog House Black Watch Pun Edwardian 1900-1910s
SKU: 5948-021
This is a great Edwardian figural dog house crested china souvenir piece by Shelley China, England, which is so different from the usual fine Shelley dinnerware.
This is a bone china dog house with a black dog in residence in crested china with the crest for Morecambe, Lancashire England and gold trim.
On the top are the words The Black Watch which is a pun on the black dog and the name of a famous regiment of Guards. These crested china souvenirs were all the rage for Edwardian travelers and tourists, and also found at fairs in the tradition of fairings.
The dog house is 3.75 inches high and 2.75 inches wide.
The dog house is in excellent used vintage condition with no chips, cracks or gold wear. A very fun piece. The Shelley crested dog house bears the mark dating it from 1910-1916. Wonderful!.
