Early Mason Imari 9 Inch Dinner Plate 1813 to 1829 England Japonesque Ironstone

SKU: 11923-062

  • $38.00

This is an early Victorian era dinner plate in the Imari style by GM and CJ Mason, England made between 1813 and 1829.

The 9 inch in diameter dinner plate design has cobalt, rust and green hand painted design of stylized floral vignettes on a cobalt blue Carnation and gold luster scroll border with a Japonesque or oriental center design.

The Imari design was popular in the Victorian era during the fad for all things Japanese and Chinese as those markets developed.

The ironstone plate has the early impressed Mason mark. At some time in the plate's long history, a dealer or collector identified the plate with an approximate date sticker on the back which I have left.

The Imari dinner plate is in good +++ used vintage condition with wear to the plate ribs and general wear to the pattern.

There may be a mineral speck as well, called kiln dust from the firing process of the 100+ year old gorgeous plate which is so collectible and decorative.
