This is an unusual Wedgwood, England black basalt Kenlock Ware cream jug or small pitcher with the hand painted in polychrome enamel Royal English crest.

The jug, pitcher or creamer which has a glazed interior, also has the words Niagra Falls, Canada so is a souvenir of that town and the royal visit of Queen Victoria's grandson, Prince George... later King George V, and his wife...who became Queen Mary, the Duchess of Cornwall and York, who arrived in Canada in 1901 aboard RMS Ophir.

The jug measures 3 inches high by 4.5 inches long by 3.5 inches in diameter and beads the impressed Wedgwood and England with the shape mark 42 and the pattern C.3455 and .P. and was made between 1895 and 1905.

The matte black basalt is a wonderful contrast with the shiny and intricate hand painted enamels.

The cream pitcher which also comes under the Crested China heading is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks and very little paint loss.

A very unusual and interesting piece with royal connections.
