| This is a great example of English victorian Imari designed teapot. It was made by Burgess & Leigh, Burslem, Staffordshire England and has the impressed underglaze as well as printed registry number for 1899. This great teapot measures 9.5 inches long by 5.5 inches high. The design is of a mulberry floral transfer printed design that was then hand painted with the usual imari (japanese influence) colors of cobalt, red, orange & green and gilt. The pattern name is Oriental. It is in very good condition with only a tiny chip on the lid rim but no other chips or cracks. It does have age crazing and there is some gilt loss on the upper body flange rim. But it's a beautiful piece of history and a typical late victorian example. |
