This is a German overtowel. This was used by house proud German housefraus to hide the dish cloths when company came. This towel was like a tea towel used for best. This black cross stitched towel measures 42 inches by 17.5 inches and is finished with a silk figured ribbon. It is in very good condition and dates from 1900-1920.
