This is a very old early carpet ball or carpet bowl from England that dates to the 1840s to 1860s. It is made of hard clay that has been glazed. The carpet bowl measures 3 inches in diameter. Carpet balls or carpet bowls were developed in Victorian England as an indoor version of lawn bowls. This ball has a few age cracks and 1 chip.
