This great piece of mottoware or motto ware is unmarked but obviously Torquay ware. I got it in England last trip. It measures 5.5 inches in diameter by 4.5 inches high including the handle. It is pinched in where the handles attatch. It bears the usual cottage and the the motto "There Be More In The Larder". It has a manufacturers crack done in firing on one of the handles but the handle is still solid. Otherwise it is in excellent condition. It is of the usual red clay with cream paint & blue dots inside the bowl. Very attractive & extremely collectible. This famous and fun pottery has been manufactured in the south of England from the 1870's until the factories closed in the 1960's. It is usually of red clay decorated with bright glazes, cottages and mottos or sayings that run the gamut from proverbs and sound advice to nearly outrageous. Always fun & different and very collectible! Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured with tracking is $10.40.
