This is a fabulous porcelain Chinese export pocket watch holder or hutch made in China @1770. The watch holder stands 5.5 inches high by 4.5 inches wide at the base by 4.24 inches deep at the base. It originally had a lid which I do not have. There is a receipt with it for it's purchase in London, England in 1952 for 9 pounds which was a substantial amount then when the average wage was 2 pounds a week. It was described as Oriental Lowestoft watchstand Chinese circa 1780. My research has confirmed that. It was listed in the Kovel's 1998 price guide (the exact piece but with lid) and valued then at $2500.00. The is a chinese mark. There is some minor glaze & petal chipping & a manufacturers base crack. It is a fabulous piece of history.
