Circa: 1950 Condition: used Size: 2 inches high by 2 inches in diameter Color: blue, white Country of Origin: United Kingdom Manufacturer: unknown Devon pottery
This lovely souvenir blue and white pottery single hoop eggcup or egg cup is sometimes called Devon ware and is a close kin to Torquay Devon, England mottoware made 1950-1960s made by an unknown Devon pottery. It has the incised name of a place, in this case Walton-On-Naze which is near the town of Ipswich or Colchester in Essex on the southeastern coast of England. The process is sometimes called scrafito or sgraphito. The eggcup measures 2 inches high by 2 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The mark is there but unfortunately is unreadable. Devon Ware souvenir ware is very collectible as well as decorative.
