Circa: 1930 Condition: used Size: 3 inches high by 2.25 inches in diameter Color: tan Country of Origin: United Kingdom Manufacturer: Nutbrown
This off white vintage stoneware pie vent, pie bird or pie funnel was made in the 1930-1940s and is marked by the maker Nutbrown which is a famous English kitchenware company. The pie vent was made in Staffordshire, England and measures 3 inches high by 2.25 inches in diameter. The pie vent is in very good +++ condition although has been used and needs a bit of a clean. Apple pie, it looks to me! A fun piece. And practical! Pie birds were developed in the 1500s to release steam from a baking pie so the filling didn't boil over.
