This is a rar Banded Star footed open salt, salt dip or salt cellar made by King, Son and Company USA in the 1880s. The rectangular clear pressed glass salt measures 2 inches high by 2 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. The salt has had a repair to one leg, which is reflected in the price of this rarely seen salt. The salt is pictured on page 148 of 5,000 Open Salts Collector's Guide by Heacock and Johnson.
