This is an Edwardian era English curling iron or hair curler that was heated over a flame or hot surface than used to make curls. The curling iron is 10.5 inches long and has wooden handles with vestiges of red paint. The blades are tight and are nickel plated, but do show wear. A great Edwardian vanity survival. Anna Bates and Lady Mary would be very familiar with these at Downton Abbey!
