Horse Brass Horse With No Tail England Pub Brass Souvenir 1920s Tourist Brass Pub Brass
SKU: 2333-098
This horse brass, souvenir brass or pub brass measures 3.2 inches high by 3 inches wide and features a horse without a tail or a docked tail.
It was made in England and is a 1920s reproduction of a 1880s design and has a coved back.
I am unsure if the docked tail is intentional or a manufacturing error, as it is a nicely made brass. Victorian examples with no tail have been seen.
A fun piece. Horse brasses originated during the 17th century to decorate and identify draft horses. Horse brasses are a popular collectible today.
In England they decorate the beams in pubs and hang by the fireplace in homes, and I have seen them used as Christmas tree ornaments by my horse loving friends!
