Horse Brass Lot Of 3 Cow Walking Horse Manx Cat Tourist
This is a set of 3 souvenir or tourist horse brasses made in the 1970s for the tourist trade. Although the designs are old designs, the workmanship is far less careful and refined than the antique and vintage brasses they copy, but they're still fun and decorative.
The 3 brasses are a cow or bull, a Manx cat and a walking horse and all are the normal size of approximately 3 inches high by 3 inches wide.
Horse brasses were developed in the 17th century to decorate and identify draft horses and are very collectible.
In England you see them decorating the beams in pubs or hung by the fireplace in homes., or used as Christmas tree ornaments.
