This is a Edward VIII of England coronation cup and saucer with matching square plate or teacup trio made in 1937, for a coronation that never happened.
The coronation never happened because the king abdicated the throne in order to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson, and was succeeded by George VI as was shown in The King's Speech movie.
The an art deco design cup and saucer was made by Taylor and Kent, England. The cup is 2.75 inches high, the saucer is 5.5 inches in diameter and the art deco square plate is 5.25 inches square.
The commemorative cup and saucer is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks and only very minor signs of use and wear to the gold trim. A wonderful piece of royal memorabilia, a history of England collectible.
