Marriage Cup And Saucer 1947 Elizabeth And Philip Paragon Wedding Bells
This is a Paragon China, England Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten 1947 Royal wedding cup and saucer.
The bone china cup in saucer has a pattern which is a variant of the Indian Tree pattern in pink with hand colored on transfer with hand painted enamel accents and an unusual border of bells and ribbons.
The design was done in several different colors for the wedding.
The use of a known pattern with substituted bell border was a measure of post-World War II austerity embraced by the Princess Elizabeth for her wedding.
The pink or mauve, white and black bone china cup and saucer can be dated to between 1937-1952 as it bears the royal warrants for Queen Mary, grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Elizabeth, wife of King George VI who was Queen Elizabeth II's mother.
The cup is 2.25 inches high by 4 inches in diameter, the saucer is 5.25 in diameter with burnished gold trim. The cup and saucer is in excellent used vintage condition with no chips or cracks or wear.
