This motto ware or mottoware bowl was made by the Dartmouth Pottery of Devon, England and bears the following motto: Ill Blows The Wind That Profits Nobody.
The motto ware bowl is decorated with the traditional cottage.
The bowl, which may be a sugar basin or bowl, measures 4 inches in diameter by 2.5 inches high and was made in the 1940-1950s.
The bowl could hold paper clips on a desk, rings and jewellery in the bedroom or lemon slices, cream or jam as well as sugar on the tea or dining table.
It is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks and only mild normal crazing, and is very collectible.
