Pink Yellow Flower Earrings Bone China Rose Posy Vintage 1960s Hand Made
This is a vintage pair of English bone china floral clip earrings in a form referred to as a Staffordshire Posy of hand made and hand painted bone china flowers.
The hand made figural flower earrings features pink and yellow Wild Rose or maybe a Dogwood flower measuring approximately one inch in diameter.
The earrings were made in England in the 1950-1960s by one of several fine pottery makers in or around Stoke-on-Trent, and no longer there. The fittings of the clip earrings are marked Made In England, but no pottery is named.
The hand made bone china earrings are in very good ++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks but there looks to me to be some stamen damage in the center of one of the flowers.
Earrings of this quality and workmanship were very popular in the 1950-1960s when this was made. We watched craftsman making these at the factory workrooms in Stoke On Trent and were amazed at the skill and time it took to make each part of these flowers by hand from a lump of clay.
Almost all of the potteries have all either closed or moved production to the far east so these are seldom being made.
