Shell Shape Dish Blue Transferware Charlotte England 1930s Polychrome Transferware

This is a rarely seen figural molded shell shaped dish in hand colored polychrome on blue transfer or transferware in the Charlotte pattern made by Royal Crownford, England in the 1930s.

This design was made by several potteries and is thought to have been originated by Clarice Cliff at Royal Wilkinson in the 1920s.

The 3 footed ironstone dish measures 2 inches high by 6 inches long by 5 inches wide and has a molded oyster back with a pale yellow tint.

The shell dish could be used for soap, candy or paper clips or for lemon or teabags.

This polychrome, older version is seldom seen.

The shell dish is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks and only mild crazing which is normal for the age and glaze.

Very collectible and a marvelous design accent.
