Teapot Mottoware Longpark Duee Av A Cup A Tay 1900 Edwardian Scandy
This is a teapot made by Longpark Torquay, England in a mottoware or motto ware pottery Scandy design in 1905-1923.
The motto or saying is Duee Av a Cup A Tay with the traditional Scandy flower motif in clay slip.
The teapot measures 3.5 inches high by 6.5 inches long by 5 in diameter and is in very good ++ condition with the only flaw 3 lid rim chips.
The photo of the front also has a glare from the lights on the glazed surface which made it difficult to photo well.
Famous and fun motto ware or mottoware has been manufactured in the south of England from the 1860s until the factories closed in the 1960s.
It is usually of red clay decorated with bright glazes, cottages and mottos or sayings that run the gamut from proverbs and sound advice to nearly outrageous.
