This is an antique majolica butter chip, butter pat or small butter plate made in the 1880s by Wedgwood, England.

The butter pat is fully marked and has a design in vivid colors of a branch of coral on a seashell with an embossed waves ocean border in greens and purples.

The majolica butter pat measures 3 inches in diameter and is in excellent used antique condition with no chips, cracks or wear and only mild some discoloring on the back from the oils in the butter.

The butter pat, which makes a wonderful teabag caddy now, is an awesome example of Wedgwood majolica and is very collectible.
