SKU: 8920-173

  • $28.00

This ceramic mug was created by Norville, England for the coronation in 1937 of King Edward VIII, uncle of Queen Elizabeth II who was never crowned.

Although he became King Edward VIII on the death of his father King George V, he was never crowned because he abdicated the throne in favor of his younger brother to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson.

The has a sepia profile with a crown and motto and cipher on the back and the seal of the British Pottery Association which chose the design as approved to use.

The mug is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips, cracks or restorations but there are minor flaws in the transfer which happened during manufacture and the usual general crazing.

A great piece of English royal history.
