Royal Winton Imari Pitcher Jug Hand Painted Gaudy Welsh Gaudy English 1920s
This is a Royal Winton, England porcelain jug or pitcher in the Imari, Gaudy English or Gaudy Welsh pattern made in the 1920-1932 just before Royal Winton Grimwades changed their mark by adding the firm name, Grimwades, to the pottery name Royal Winton thereby becoming Royal Winton Grimwades.
The jug or pitcher measures 6.75 inches high by 6.5 inches wide by 5 inches in diameter.
The pitcher or jug is in a Royal Winton line called Ivory Ware.
The design is brightly hand painted with lots of hand applied gold trim after the Japanese Imari popular at the time which was also called Gaudy Welsh or Gaudy English in the United Kingdom.
The jug is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips, cracks or restorations and showing only minor wear.
The imari patterned pieces are very rarely seen as so few were made.
Great and unusual vintage Royal Winton.
Imari was popularized by the Victorian craze for all things Japanese at the time.
